Twenty participants from six countries – Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Zimbabwe attended the event in held in Nairobi, Kenya.
CYNESA’s executive founding director Allen Ottaro, pictured above with Bishop James Maria Wainaina of the Catholic Diocese of Murang’a, said: ‘This was the first time in our two-year history that CYNESA members from different countries gathered. The main objective was to provide the space for reflection, for sharing and for the development of a common vision and action plan for our work for the next three years.’
Opening the summit Bishop James Maria Wainaina highlighted the importance of young people working together with ‘energy and vigour’ to improve the future of Africa and the planet.
CYNESA also held a two-day workshop on developing a climate-change toolkit for young people in Jesuit institutions in Africa in March this year. To read more, click here.
