While delivering the Khutbah (Friday Sermon) on July 11, the Mufti urged the huge congregation to take part in the Greening Friday activities saying it is the responsibility of all Muslims to ensure the environment is protected.
The Mufti, who later planted a mango tree (pictured above) and handed out tree seedlings, said protecting the environment from global warming and other man-made activities was highly encouraged and rewarded by Allah in this Holy month of Ramadan.
Greening Friday, held on the second Friday of Ramadan, is organised by the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council and co-ordinated by Hajjat Aphwa Kaawaase Sebyala. Hajjat said at least ten media organisations covered the event.
