The Reverend Pierre Claver Bisanze, who is in charge of Christian Education and also the Youth Co-ordinator of the Protestant Council of Rwanda (CPR), which organised the seminar and tree-planting, said the church leaders and delegates were delighted to see so many young people involved. He said: ‘They were very glad to see young people from different parts of the country engaged in the very noble activity of environmental issues in general and of greening their school in particular.’
Delegates were reminded that "schools should not be deserts. They must be covered by greenery throughout. Youth students should play a leading role doing that".
The CPR has now promised to introduce green clubs in other secondary and primary schools and in universities.
